Your Brain Can't Actually Do Two Things At Once. Across Ohio, distracted driving continues to threaten the safety of citizens every day. Whether you think you're a good multitasker or a bad multitasker, the truth is the brain doesn't really multitask at all; it actually switches focus between one task and another at a rapid pace. It may feel as though you're simultaneously handling information, but your brain is actually missing details without even realizing it. Missing details means your reaction time is slower, and a crash can happen in a fraction of a second.
The Orrville Area Safety Council welcomes Lieutenant Todd Roberts, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Wooster Post Commander, to address the serious safety issue of distracted driving at the November 9 meeting.
Distracted driving is engaging in any activity that is not necessary to the operation of a vehicle and impairs, or reasonably would be expected to impair, the ability of the operator to drive the vehicle safely. Talking or texting on cell phones, eating, and other distractions continue to cause crashes that have lifelong consequences for both violators and victims.

Orrville Area Safety Council monthly lunch and learn meetings will be held the second Wednesday of each month at The University of Akron Wayne College, 1901 Smucker Road, Orrville. The agenda will be 11:30am lunch buffet followed by noon meeting and educational session.
The meeting will conclude at 1pm.The Orrville Area Safety Council is sponsored by the Orrville Area Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation Division of Safety & Hygiene and Massillon WestStark Chamber of Commerce, to provide Ohio employers with access to occupational safety and health, workers' compensation and risk management education, networking, and resource sharing. Safety Consultant Specialist at Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation

She works with a diverse range of companies in many different industries, from public entities to a wide variety of private companies. She helps customers evaluate their current safety situations, set goals and create plans of action to successfully achieve their goals. She also teaches many safety related classes for the BWC.
Prior to working at the BWC, Cari was an Environmental, Safety and Health Manager for General Electric. She also worked in the Safety Department of an automotive based company, after graduating from The Ohio State University in 1999.
Cari is very passionate about the safety and health of Ohio employees. Her philosophy is based around top management commitment, employee involvement and personal responsibility. Her time outside of work is happily spent with her husband, two children and two dogs.
