Working Together to Reduce Opioid Overdose
The Wayne County Health Department has partnered with Project Dawn (Deaths Avoided with Naloxone) to provide training and free naloxone kits to our community and business partners. Drug related deaths has become a crisis among people of all ages, and Naloxone is a medication (no prescription needed) that is designed to rapidly reverse opioid overdose.
Across Ohio and the country, fentanyl, a very potent opioid is more commonly being found in other substances, making naloxone a critical tool to have on hand.
Anyone can pick up a kit and get trained. Whether you are caring for someone that uses opioids, or you may not know the person at all, having Naloxone can help save a life.
In Ohio since 2014, Project Dawn has distributed over 551,772 to the community. Of that number 68,586 were reported overdose reversals. That is 68,586 lives saved by Naloxone.
We here at the Health Department look forward to partnering with local community members and business, and providing education, training and free Naloxone kits to assist with this growing crisis.
