Sometimes mental health issues can emerge suddenly while on the job; people can suddenly or dramatically become agitated/upset in ways that interfere with a safe workplace. Whether or not we call in help from a mental health professional, we will have moments when we are left to respond to someone who may be angry, depressed, or in a panic attack. Without needing to diagnose what's going on inside the person, and without an ability to directly control someone else's mental state and behavior, there are choices we can make that can either escalate the situation or facilitated de-escalation.

This talk will help us get in the right mindset, and have some specific strategies, to be able to choose good responses when faced with agitation in the workplace.
